two months ago mtv came to the opening of our antwerp show. we only just got hold of the report and didn’t get a chance yet to put subtitles on it but it’s basically a bunch of people saying all good things about us. luckily.

talking about this series of - seriously! - paintings of electronic musicians, gemma over at border community wrote this about us on the label’s blog: ‘angels & ghosts is another unrelated project from belgium that has similar aims of redressing the visibility balance, this time through an ongoing photography series focusing on the electronic musicians who would otherwise “often remain relatively faceless even after having played in front of millions of people”. so far there are 100 photos in the collection, which they have displayed at various exhibitions and now released into the world as a limited edition numbered booklet as a stop-gap teaser whilst their dj-cataloguing mission continues. and as you were probably expecting, our own james holden has already been snapped for this celebration of dj images too, taking him another vital step away from invisibility.’

first things first: happy new year! though we must admit we are kind of sad closing the book on 2008. over one thousand people showed up for the opening night of our exhibition at the antwerp fotomuseum on december 19 and thousands more dropped by before we pulled the plug on january 4. from the bottom of our heart: thank you! however, as a lot of you weren’t able to come to antwerp - financial crisis; we understand - we saved a limited number of books to be sold online. the book - call it a catalogue, if you will - is not available in shops nor is it the definitive collection of our endeavour (which continues). it is a teaser, a taste, a sample of our first one hundred photos - old ones (erol, uffie, alex, james, dave) and new ones (moby, amon, laurent, goldie, felix). for a complete line-up go to the book(s) section of our website. to order your copy go to contact and send us an e-mail. the book costs 15 euro. also: each copy is numbered; making it a bit of of a collectable. heck, we’ll even sign it, to show how much we looooooove you.

this just in: angels & ghosts will also be spinning records on opening night. for thirty minutes - right after busy p - we’ll be playing nothing but nasty, mean, badass dance tracks. do note that we haven’t had much time to practise recently so we’re not saying it’s going to be a perfect mix. but is that REALLY important? guess we’ll find out in - building tension here - three more days!

angels & ghosts has put a big print (60 x 90 cm) of its uffie photo up for auction on ebay. the print has been signed by the damself herself and all proceeds will go to music for life - a big annual fundraiser hosted by the red cross and studio brussel, belgium’s damn hottest radio station. this year both are raising money for women and children on the run from war and violence. now we know these are hard times but be honest: you’re not exactly skipping the turkey this year because you can’t afford one. and if you’re really that terrified of an economic meltdown you might as well spend your money now because once the world goes bankrupt it’s not going to be worth a dime anyway. so take part in our music for life auction and then go spend even more money on beautiful portraits (of amongst others róisín murphy and soulwax) from our esteemed colleagues at pictures for life!

just finished the mtv ad for our opening night. sorry for those of you who don’t speak dutch but you’ll get the picture(s).

presale for the opening night party of the a&g exhibition at the antwerp fotomuseum is going strong so you might want to think about buying your tickets in advance. need one more reason to do so? a&g will be presenting its first book on december 19: the first one hundred. the limited edition book will - nomen est omen - feature our first one hundred photos and won’t be available in stores. copies are numbered and will only be sold on opening night at the antwerp fotomuseum. if you can catch us that night we’ll even sign it for you - making it a nice early christmas present.

we just added the flyer of the opening night party at the antwerp fotomuseum to our press section. the party will start at 10pm and feature hot chip, busy p, cosy mozzy vs. jean montevideo, ed & kim, fredo & thang, fanklub dj’s, nils holgerffun and bernard gavilan. also: the angels & ghosts exhibition will be open that night till closing time – so early morning. we felt it would make for the perfect chill out room. keep watching this website for more news (cos we still have a few surprises in store).

december 19 will see the first angels & ghosts solo exhibition at the antwerp photo museum. more details to follow but we thought we’d already mention we’ve got a nice line-up roasting in the oven: hot chip, busy p, cosy mozzy vs. jean montevideo and ed & kim will all play at the opening party on december 19. come say hello, will ya!
